Thinking of doing some black friday shopping on amazon?
AmazonSmile is a program that donates 0.5% of your eligible purchases on Amazon to a charity of your choice. All you need to do is start your shopping at smile.amazon.com. The donation will be made at no extra cost to you and you can choose from nearly one million public charitable organisations.

The Parochial Church Council Of The Ecclesiastical Parish Of St Mary, Tadcaster
then shop as you normally would. Log into www.smile.amazon.com each time you want to buy something through amazon and St Mary's will be saved as the charity you'd like to support - it's also very easy to change to a different one should you wish to support different charities.

In the years following a bereavement we like to invite families and friends to come back to Church for a service of ‘Remembering and Thanksgiving’.
This simple service is a chance to remember those we love who have died, to give thanks for all they meant to us and all they mean still.
We send an invitation to all the families we have been involved with following the death of someone close to them in the past year. All these names are read out and there is the opportunity to light a candle.
Refreshments will be served after the service and we warmly invite you to stay.
If you, or anyone you know, would like to have a name of someone else who has recently died included, and come to light a candle in memory of them, please contact the Benefice Administrator, Rachel Hughes, on 01937 834016 or email: email@example.com.
Although we know grief is with us all year round there is a special poignancy across the Christmas season and we can feel our loss even more keenly, so we use this service to rediscover the message of hope that Christmas brings and find comfort in being together.
Are you looking to do some volunteering in the Community?
Maybe you are a young person wanting to volunteer for your Duke of Edinburgh's Award, or maybe the children have gone to school and you have a bit of time available, perhaps you have recently retired and have more time to yourself, perhaps you have been bereaved or recently moved to the area and want somewhere to meet people...
Hidden Treasures is our gem of a charity shop. It is down the path at the side of the Boys Sunday School and is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - as well as Saturday mornings.
St Mary's Church, Tadcaster relies on Hidden Treasures for income to keep the church going but we are short of volunteers.
Shifts are from 10 - 12.30 for mornings, and 12.30 to 3 in the
afternoons... just a shift a week would be a real help or more if you could manage it.
No previous experience necessary and there are always at least two staff members on at any one time.
You would be made to feel very welcome and would be helping your church and community at the same time.

St Mary’s, Tadcaster Auction
Wednesday 5th September at 7:30PM
As part of the improvements project we are undertaking we now have some surplus items that we would like to auction to raise money for the shortfall in funds for the project. These items include pews and light fittings.
Viewings will be held Saturday 1st from 9am-12.00pm, Monday 3nd and Tuesday 4th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. We will also be open on the evening of the auction from 5pm.
Bids can be placed on lots during the auction, or book bids can be submitted from registered bidders during viewings and the Auction Master will bid on your behalf.
To bid on a lot as a registered bidder, complete a registration slip during one of the viewings; the bid is then given to the Auction Master who will place bids on the lot up to your maximum bid limit during the auction.
Unfortunately card payments are unable to be accepted, payment to be made on Wednesday 5th September in cash, or by cheque. Lots paid for by cheque will be released to the buyer when funds have cleared. All purchased lots must be removed from church by Saturday 8th September.
If you would like any further information please contact Jonathan Craig on 07703 116152.
Further to our exciting news that work is underway on improvements in church; I'd like to share with you our online donations page.
We have a shortfall of £34,000 to cover the costs of the works. The donation process is easy to navigate through. If you're able to spare anything to help us meet the costs of the project we'd be very grateful. The improvements to church will be a fantastic benefit to all, from those who attend services regularly to those may not attend often but have their wedding with us, children baptised with us and say goodbye to their loved ones with us.
We'll be updating the amount raised weekly, via social media and in the notice sheet given out at services on a Sunday. Thank you
We are delighted to announce that the works to upgrade the facilities at St Mary's Tadcaster have now commenced. The improvements taking place include installation of a toilet and kitchen, new audio/visual equipment and new seating. It is expected that the work will be completed towards the end of September.
In order to comply with Health and Safety regulations church will be shut to the public during this period. It is anticipated that services during this period will be held in the Boys’ Sunday School; although Baptism Services will not be affected and will be held in church as planned.
Confirmation of the location of services will be available on the church social media accounts, on the notice boards outside church and in the weekly notice sheet.
Copies of the weekly notice sheet and Focus Magazine will be available at Hidden Treasures during their opening hours.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this short period of building works, if you have any queries please contact one of our churchwardens, Celia and Jonathan, who will be delighted to speak to you.
