If you would like to fill a shoe box this year for Operation Christmas Child, please contact Jane Tillett on 07840397512 and she will be happy to arrange collection.  Alternatively you could leave them at the back of St Mary’s Church from where she will collect them.  The last date for collection is the 9th November 2014.

Jane has ordered a supply of flat pack official shoe boxes.  If you would like one or more of these, please let her know.

Instruction leaflets for making up shoe boxes will be in church for collection from this Sunday the 26th October 2014 from the table at the front of church.

Halloween is a time of year full of witches, bats, spiders and other far darker costumes and decorations, leaving many in a dilemma about whether to let their kids get involved. In response, Christians around the UK, rather than negatively reacting to what is seen as a festival, have been creatively producing alternatives to the usual celebrations.  

With this in mind, The Lower Wharfe Ecumenical Youth Project would like to invite all 5-11 year olds to their "Superhero" fun-day and party. If you are looking for an alternative way for your kiddies to spend Halloween then bring them along. We will be celebrating some good things on an otherwise 'dark' day and having a great 'light' party to end the day off. Come dressed as your favourite superhero! 

Friday 31st October 10am - 2pm in The Bridge, Westgate.  Bring a pack up for lunch.
Then 5pm -6.30pm for the Light Party

On Saturday 4th October from 10am - 4pm St Andrew's Newton Kyme are open for visitors to see the church decorated for Harvest.  Refreshments are available and there will also be a cake stall.
If you've never been to this beautiful little church in the middle of the field, why not go along and have a look this weekend?

St Andrew's will be celebrating Harvest with a special service at 11am on Sunday 5th October.

St Mary, Kirk Fenton will also be holding a Harvest Holy Communion on Sunday starting at 10am and there is a Harvest service at with plenty for children at 10.30am at St John the Baptist, Kirkby Wharfe.

If you are all 'Harvested-out'!, then there is an All Age Service at St Mary's, Tadcaster at 10.30am, looking at the story of Gideon, when we think about what it means to trust and obey.
