If it's rainign Dr John Sentamu, Archbishop of York, spent a day visiting Tadcaster on Friday 16th March. He met with town councillors, churchwardens and staff of all the parishes in our Benefice, visited John Smith's brewery, the Swimming Pool, conducted a very special confirmation service, spent some time at Magnet's Social Club and then finished the evening with a Question & Answer Session in St Mary's Church. Those who came to the evening were entertained beforehand by the Chamber Choir & Brass Group from Riverside Community Primary School. At 11.30pm we have our traditional Midnight Communion, sung to a John Rutter setting - heralding in Christmas Day with joy and reverence. Christmas Day has two services - again very different. At 8am a traditional (1662 Book of Common Prayer) Holy Communion - no hymns and a short thought. Then at 10am, a short Christmas family service - bring a present to show!! On Sunday 11th December at 6pm, we have our annual service when we remember those who have died over the past year, inviting all the families that we have had contact with through funerals.
